JOSEPH Dollen Stroup and Willy Borgerding pitched gems, and the Joseph bats smoked the Pine-Eagle Spartans in a pair of 22-2 Wapiti League baseball victories Saturday.

Stroup blanked the Spartans in four innings in the first game, and Borgerding threw a two-hitter in the second for his fourth win of the season.

Probably they havent faced a hard thrower like Dollen yet, and they were kind of shocked, Joseph coach Dave Schmidt said about the first game.

Borgerding has been outstanding all year. He threw the win against Salem Academy, and he threw the win against Nyssa, Schmidt said.

Joseph (8-4 overall, 3-1 league) amassed 31 hits in the two games, with Ryan Barstad leading the way with six.

Barstad hit a three-run home run in his second at-bat of the first inning of the second game. The Eagles scored 12 runs in that inning; they had a 10-run second inning in the first game.

In the second game, everybody that got a hit got an RBI, Schmidt said.

Joseph next plays Thursday night in a doubleheader against Imbler at La Grandes Optimist Field.
