HERMISTON — The La Grande track and field team left the Kiwanis Invitational Saturday with personal records.

"We had a good meet for our kids," La Grande coach Joe Sandoz said. "Most of them had personal bests."

Skyler MacDonald threw the javelin 180 feet, 9 inches to win La Grande's only event.

"He's been only been throwing this thing three weeks," Sandoz said.

Kylee Winkler competed in the 200 and also ran a fast leg in the long relay.

"(She) ran very well (in the 200) and turned around and ran a 60.03 leg in the long relay, and that's the fastest 400 she's ever run," Sandoz said. "It was a tremendous, gutty effort."

Travis Dixon and Dane Johnson also set personal bests by over 25 seconds in the 3,000. Both finished under 10 minutes.

"It was a very strong performance for a couple of sophomore boys," Sandoz said.

La Grande competes at Vale Thursday.
