UNION — Sophomore Matt Fiorito drove in three runs to lift his Union Bobcats to a 4-3 baseball victory Tuesday over the Imbler Panthers.

Fiorito's single drove in a run in the first inning, then he added a two-run single in the third that gave Union (8-8) what would be the winning runs.

The games were originally scheduled as a JV doubleheader, but Union asked for a varsity game so it could get some work in before the May 18 district tournament.

"We wanted to work on some single game stuff," Union coach Greg Poor said. "We worked on a lot of little things."

Union went 10-for-20 at the plate.

The Bobcats have a JV doubleheader scheduled Friday at Ontario, but Poor is hoping to turn one of those into a varsity game. Imbler (1-8) finishes its season with a doubleheader Saturday against Pine-Eagle in Halfway.
