The La Grande High School doubles team of Greg Schuft and Tyler Lester received the second seed at this week's OSAA-U.S. Bank Class 3A/2A/1A Boys Tennis State Championships.

Schuft and Lester will play Shane Clifton and Jesse Belyea of Echo in Friday morning's opening round at the Timberhill Tennis Club in Corvallis.

Schuft and Lester, both seniors, won the District 4 title last weekend and went through the regular season of district undefeated.

La Grande's two other entries in the state tournament go in unseeded, but they won't have to play seeded players in the first round.

Junior John Woodfield will play sophomore Jasjit Singh of Marist in the first round. Girls singles player Haley Hines faces junior Tammi Weidert of Weston-McEwen.

Friday's second-round matches will be played at 2 p.m. for girls singles, 3:30 p.m. for boys singles and 4:30 p.m. for boys doubles.

Semifinals are Saturday morning and finals are Saturday afternoon.
