Wallowa High School received the 2002 Powerade Scholar Athlete Award, as 74 percent of its seniors earned a 3.50 cumulative GPA and varsity letter in an OSAA sanctioned sport.

The award goes to schools in each classification that has the highest percentage of graduating seniors meeting the criteria.

Certificates are sent to individuals at each high school recognizing this accomplishment. More than 3,000 graduating seniors received these certificates this spring.

Other awards went to 4A Canby (57 percent), 4A Cresent Valley (57 percent), 3A Marist (59 percent) and 1A Crook County Christian (100 percent).

The OSAA also announced the winning schools for the Powerade Activity Scholar awards.

These awards went to schools in each classification with the highest percentage of graduating seniors, who have earned a 3.50 cumulative G.P.A. and participated in an OSAA sanctioned activity.

The schools honored were 4A David Douglas (71 percent), 3A Marist (67 percent), 2A Regis (75 percent) and 1A The Triad School (73 percent).
