KARATE TEAM GARNERS TWO CHAMPIONSHIPS

MOSES LAKE, Wash. — Three members of the Grande Ronde Karate and Kung Fu School brought home two championship trophies and a second-place finish from the Battle of the Basin tournament Saturday.

Thomas Weems of North Powder, a four-year veteran of the school, won the 14-15-year-old advanced belt division. Stacey Bowman of La Grande went undefeated to win the men's beginning heavyweight division.

Scott Coulter of Cove fought his way to a second-place finish in the 14-15-year-old beginning fighting division. Coulter, a yellow belt, was in his first competition.
