BUTTE, Mont. — Michael Godfrey, 140-pound schoolboy class, took fifth place in freestyle at the Western Regionals Wrestling Tournament here this past weekend.

Godfrey, 14, finished the tournament 3-3. He won his first two matches against wrestlers from Utah and Wyoming. He lost his next matches against wrestlers from California, Idaho and Oregon. Godfrey came back and won his last match against a wrestler from California.

John Tuck, 11, 90-pound novice, went 4-2 on the weekend. Tuck was one win away from placing in the top six. He won his first match against a wrestler from Montana, then lost to a wrestler from Wyoming. Tuck won his next three matches against wrestlers from Oregon, Montana and Wyoming before losing to a wrestler from Idaho.

Andy Godfrey, 12, 105-pound novice, was 1-2 in the tournament. Andy won his first match against a wrestler from Wyoming and lost his next two matches to wrestlers from Oregon and Washington.

Over 1,000 wrestlers participated in the freestyle event.
