Eastern Oregon University's Athletic Department is ready to accept Hall of Fame applications.

EOU will take nominations at either www.eou.edu/athletic/ or www.eou.edu/athletic/hall_of_fame/nominationhome.htm until Aug. 16.

The categories include individual, team, coach and meritorious service.

A committee was formed to put together the categories and criteria for selection.

Nominees voted into the Hall of Fame will be inducted at Homecoming Oct. 26 when Eastern's football team hosts Carroll College.

Individuals nominated must have made outstanding athletic contributions; had conference, district, regional, or national athletic recognition; past and/or present citizenship and community service; completed a minimum of one full season; and have not played in 10 years or more.

The coaching category criteria consists of coaching one full season at Eastern; conference, district, or national coaching recognition (such as Coach of the Year honors); their win/loss record; citizenship and community service (past and present); and accomplishments of individual athletes and teams coached.

Team criteria includes outstanding athletic contributions by a team; conference, district/regional, or national team recognition; and a 10-year waiting period since the group competed.

Nominations in the category of meritorious athletic service will go to individuals or groups that have performed extraordinary services in support of the goals and objectives at Eastern.

The EOU Hall of Fame was established in 1987 to recognize the outstanding achievements of Mountaineers athletics. Thirty-seven players, coaches, and individuals have been honored.
