TWO GOLF TEAMS TIE FOR FIRST PLACE

UNION — Nineteen teams competed in the second annual Chamber Challenge Four-Person Golf Scramble.

The event, sponsored by CAPPS Broadcast Group and the La Grande-Union County Chamber of Commerce, was held Friday at Buffalo Peak Golf Course.

Two teams tied for first place. The teams of John Lamoreau, Ron Jensen, Ed James and Frank Souza and of Manny Mendoza, Joe Mendoza, Barry Morgan and Mike Dean shot 61s. Both teams took $210 each.

Rob Cashell, Harris Shelton, Russ Vanderzanden and Jack Martin were third with a 62 score and $140.

Randy McKone, Andrew Holt, J.J. Ford and Ron Hughes were fourth with a 63 and $110.

The longest drive on hole No. 2 went to Cashell, who won $100.

The closest to the pin on hole No. 7 went to Mike Poe, who won $50.

The closest to the pin on the driving range went to Steve Mallard, who won $50.

The putting contest on the practice green went to Jim Hays. He won $100.
