The Oregon Outlaws split a baseball doubleheader with La Grande's Rain Roofing Saturday afternoon.

Rain Roofing won the first game 9-1, then fell 7-1.

Corey Royal went the distance for the win in the first game. Rain Roofing pounded out four hits leading to five runs in the fifth inning.

With two outs and runners at second and third, Jeremy George hit a two-run RBI single up the middle off a 2-2 pitch. Dean Fouquette of the Outlaws reached for the ball, but could not make the grab.

Tanner Mellinger and Tyler Davis had RBI singles to add two runs in the inning. Mellinger was forced in off a bases-loaded walk to Shane Slover.

In Game 2, Rain Roofing struggled. It scored its one run in the fourth off an RBI single from Jason Smith.

Mellinger was pulled after four innings for giving up two runs, which included a two-run home run in the third.

Dollen Stroup gave up five runs in three innings. He gave up a two-run homer in the seventh.

Rain Roofing will play Friday at 7:30 p.m. on the first day of the American Legion Baseball Northwest Class A Regional Tournament.
