Telfax Inc., the company that prints large phone books, is moving next month to the Fourth Street address formerly occupied by ERA Driggers Realty.

Owner Tosh Connor said Telfax had been in rented buildings on Jefferson Avenue since 1991. It has been at its present location, 1433 Jefferson, since 1996 and was across the street from that site from 1991 to 1996.

Connor said the company was moving because it is being forced out by the owner, who lives in Sacramento, Calif.

"A divorce situation is involved and it was getting pretty messy. We just decided to move."

The company's latest Jefferson Avenue building was designed specifically for Telfax, Connor said.

"I designed it," he said.

The new location, 1904 Fourth St., also will be rented. It has two floors of office space plus a basement, which is more than adequate for his business, Connor said.

The previous building was designed for 24 employees, which Telfax once had. Now, with improved technology, the company has 14 full-time workers, Connor said.

Renovations going on include new carpeting, painting, improved lighting and other work.

The company plans to move Aug. 27-28 and be in business at the location the day after Labor Day, Connor said.

The new location is owned by Mike Ruth of La Grande, Connor said.
