Troy Hoskins of Imbler stacks wheat straw from a 100-acre field along Pierce Road Friday. The 1,100- to 1,250-pound bales are stacked and then loaded onto a semi-truck for transport to Vale, where the straw is used in mushroom growing. Fred Wallender, who manages farms in Union and Baker counties and supervised the baling process, said this year has been an average yield for irrigated farm land.
