Shepherd Urbano Palacios watches over a flock of 1,300 sheep grazing on land near Godley Road Wednesday evening. With the help of his three dogs — Lupe, Chieche, and Robot — Palacios keeps the flock nearby. The sheep were transported to the valley by Cunningham Sheep Co. and Palacios, as an employee, will stay with the sheep until the land has been satisfactorily grazed down and will then move elsewhere. Native to Peru, Palacios has been in the United States for nine years and plans to return to Peru to visit his family in April when his work contract is up.
