10-K relay, run slated for Hog Wild Days event

ISLAND CITY A Hog Wild Days 10-kilometer relay and individual run will be held June 2.

Registration is from 7:30 to 8:15 a.m. in the La Grande Country Club parking lot at 1605 S. McAlister. The cost is $8 for individuals and $20 for teams.

Relay legs include two, three and five kilometers. There will be a category for baby joggers, too.

Area athletes participate in Special Olympics meet

Blue Mountain Area Special Olympics featured 23 local participants at a track and field meet held at La Grande High School Saturday.

Most of the athletes will move on to the Special Olympics Oregon State Summer Games to be held in Eugene July 6-8.

Case places in 3 events at John Day HS rodeo

JOHN DAY Elgins Kristi Case finished fifth in breakaway roping and eighth in barrel racing over the weekend at the John Day High School Rodeo.

Case, one of four members of the Eastern Oregon High School Rodeo Club who traveled to John Day, also teamed with La Grandes Travis Hampton for ninth in team roping.

Brian Sanders of Elgin finished sixth in bareback riding, and Baker Citys Sally Jane Brown placed eighth in pole bending.
