ONTARIO — Behind another stellar performance by senior Kelli Greenough, the La Grande girls golf team came in third in a tournament at Ontario Golf Club Thursday.

The tournament was played in intermittent snow and rain showers, but Greenough battled the elements to shoot a 39 in nine holes.

Greenough took medalist honors over Ontario rival Anna Jaramillo, who edged her out at last year's district tournament by two strokes. Jaramillo scored 43 to come in third behind Weiser's Amy Sutton who fired a 42.

Aubrey Glaze, Kalee Braseth, Kira Tao and Diedra Pokorney teamed with Greenough to finish third in back of Weiser and Homedale, another Idaho school.

Ontario finished fourth, eight strokes behind La Grande. Other schools participating were McCall, Nyssa, Fruitland and Payette.

Coach Lonnie Myers remarked on Greenough's role as team captain. "Kelli is our leader, all we have to do is support her and try to follow her example," Myers said.
