ELGIN —The Imbler Panthers came away with one win against Nyssa in a make-up Wapiti League baseball doubleheader Tuesday.

The Panthers (5-3 in Wapiti League) held off the Bulldogs 6-5 in game 1 before losing the nightcap 7-3. The win keeps Imbler with a winning record in league, in fourth place behind Grant Union (8-0), Joseph (7-1) and Elgin (6-2).

With two outs in the fifth inning of the second game, the Bulldogs drove in one run off a double to go up 3-2. The Bulldog runner was caught stealing third off a throw from catcher Zach Myers to end the threat.

In the top of the sixth, the Bulldogs hit a sac fly to center field to drive in another run.

The Panthers came back in the bottom of the frame after Myers was plunked by the pitcher.

Myers moved to second off a passed ball, then John McKinnis hit a sac fly to advance Myers to third. Jo Jo Harder drove in Myers off a single that landed near the fence.

In the top of the seventh, the Bulldogs padded the lead with a hit up the middle scoring one more run. A single down the line drove in two more runs to leave the score at 7-3.

Imbler's next game is tentatively scheduled for next Tuesday.

The Panthers will play Elgin to make up their doubleheader which was rained out last Saturday.
