Junior high and high school girls will be able to hone their skills at the Eastern Oregon University volleyball camp, July 28 to Aug. 1.

Girls entering grades 7-9 can enroll in the complete player camp. Campers are grouped by age and ability to enhance their experience.

The latest techniques for passing, setting, attacking, blocking, individual defense and serving will be emphasized. Basic team offenses and defenses appropriate to high school play will be taught.

Girls entering grades 10-12 are eligible for the position specialization camp. This camp is for players who would like to receive sound fundamental skills training and in-depth instruction in a single specialized position. The positions include middle blocker/hitter, setter, outside hitter, right side hitter or defensive spec-ialist/libero.

The camp will be run by head coach Ryan Platt, assistant coach Tim Stone and the camp staff.

Platt completed his first season at Eastern and brings a wealth of coaching and playing experience to the program. He has compiled a career coaching record total of 343-87 in 10 years. Platt played collegiate volleyball for the Lewis Clark State College volleyball program. He led the team in kills, kill percentage, ace serves, digs and passing percentage.

Stone has played and coached with and against Platt for 10 years. Platt and Stone are LCSC men's volleyball standouts.

Other camp staff will include members of the Mountaineer volleyball team, alumni and outstanding college and high school coaches.

The camp costs are: brown bag (no meals provided) $135 and lunch provided $165.
