BEVY OF TIGERS EARN ALL-LEAGUE HONORS

The La Grande High School softball girls placed a trio of players on the All-Greater Oregon First Team, while La Grande baseball put two boys on the GOL second-team.

Catcher Meghan Henderson, shortstop Amanda Marcum and outfielder Des McCoy made the first team in softball.

Making the second team were third baseman Jennifer Funkhouser, outfielder Caylin Goss and pitcher Megan Caldwell.

Danielle Tams was named to the honorable mention team.

The La Grande softball team finished 13-7 in league and qualified for the playoffs, losing in the first round.

In baseball, catcher Kelly Moore and outfielder Brenton Dowdy were named this week to the second team of the GOL All-Star squad.

Also making the honorable mention team was designated hitter Daniel Wells.

Moore batted .333 this season with three home runs and 13 runs batted in. Dowdy batted .342 with two homers and 21 RBIs, while Wells hit .289 with a home run and 10 RBIs.

The player of the year was catcher T.J. Presley of Ontario, and coach of the year was Ontario's Chad Hartley.
