NAMPA, Idaho — The Eastern Oregon women soccer team lost two close games at the Arthur D. Ortman Invitational Soccer Tournament.

Northwest Nazarene University defeated Eastern 2-1 Monday and Albertson beat Eastern by the same score Saturday.

NNU scored first when Megan Johnson fired a crossing pass across the front of the Eastern goal that was mishandled by the keeper, the deflection rolled toward the far post and an attempt by an Eastern defender to clear the ball resulted in an own goal at the 15 minute mark.

Jamie Kellett scored NNU's second goal in the 55th minute, as she took a direct kick from 30 yards, fired it off the wall of defenders, followed her shot and sent the rebound past Eastern's Anna Bacon to score her second goal of the young season.

Eastern (0-2 overall) scored its only goal in the 71st minute when Anne Henriksen followed a hard shot by teammate Kristen Rice that deflected off of the NNU keeper, Shauna Voss. Henriksen was able to control the deflection and send it into the net from only four yards out.

On Saturday, Albertson's Allison Rupert knocked in her first collegiate goal less than 20 minutes into the contest, as Kristi Dalsoglio found Alyssa Latham on the right flank, who crossed a ball into the box for a Rupert flick.

The Rupert sisters would help each other make it 2-0. Allison Rupert crossed a ball into the box, and while two Eastern defenders collided, Katie Rupert would put the goal away - the eventual game-winner.

Eastern would get on the board late in the opening half on a Cydney Topping penalty kick, but sophomore keeper Danielle Dorsch would turn away 13 other shots to preserve the win.

The Mountaineers will play at Carroll in Helena, Mont., at 3 p.m. Pacific Monday.
