MILTON-FREEWATER — The La Grande boys wrapped up the District 7 soccer title after their 1-0 win over McLoughlin Tuesday.

Both teams were 7-1 in District 7 play heading into Tuesday's game. It was the Tigers' second hard-fought one-goal victory over Mac-Hi this season.

Joe Hibbert scored in the 50th minute. His goal was set up by Jared Blakely, who took a free kick, which Manuel Arceo headed to Hibbert. Hibbert put the ball over the top of the goalie's hands.

La Grande coach Jessy Watson said the Tigers did not play as well in the past but were able to stay in the game because of defender Aaron Nebeker and goaltender Josef Mielke.

He said the Tigers worked hard this season and in this game to win the title.

"I'm proud of the entire team," he said.

Watson did say the Tigers will need to play better in the playoffs.

"They know the task ahead and are ready to take it along," he said.

The Tigers close the regular season at home against Baker Thursday.
