The Powder Valley Badgers will face the next step in their quest for a state football championship Saturday.

The Badgers, 10-0 and ranked No. 1 in the state all year, will face a tough Mohawk team Saturday in a Class 1A semifinal. The game will be held at noon at Hillsboro Stadium.

Mohawk is ranked No. 5 in the state. This team's only loss this season was to McKenzie, which is ranked No. 3.

McKenzie is playing Powers in the other semifinal.

Powder Valley is a senior-heavy team that has been to the semifinals three straight years.

The Badgers have outscored their opponents 624-214 this season.

Last year, Powder Valley ran into terrible weather conditions in the semifinal. Gale-force winds in the first half caused a number of turnovers and the Badgers fell way behind eventual champion St. Paul. Powder Valley rallied, but was never able to catch the Buckaroos.
