In another close game that came down to the wire, this time the Eastern Oregon men couldn't pull it out.

In a game featuring an astounding 21 lead changes and 11 ties, the Eastern Oregon men were torched for 40 points by Southern's Shea Washington and took only seven free throws the entire game in a heartbreaking 87-85 overtime loss to Southern Friday.

It was the men's third overtime game and their second loss in OT. Eastern is 3-4 in Cascade Collegiate Conference play (7-6 overall) with a big game today against Oregon Tech. With a little luck, the Mountaineers could easily be 5-2 in conference.

Washington had a monster all-around game for the Raiders, shooting 15-for-23 (including 3-for-4 from 3-point range), and pulling down 17 boards.

Eastern countered with big games from Jason Crawley and Tyree Jones, playing in his first game in several weeks.

Jones, recovering from a groin pull, scored 19 points and dished out 11 assists, while Crawley had one of his best games of the year, scoring 15 and pulling down 12 rebounds.

Trevor Exline and Larry Smith each scored 16 for the Mountaineers.

Free throws were key. Eastern shot just seven from the charity stripe, making five, while Southern went to the line 20 times and made 12.

The Oregon Tech game begins at 7:30 p.m. Tech lost a bizarre game Friday to No. 3-ranked Albertson. Albertson was awarded two technical foul free throws with 0.1 seconds left in regulation because Tech tried to take an excessive timeout, and Albertson won 79-77.
