The La Grande boys are a perfect 6-0 in Greater Oregon League basketball after stuffing Ontario 45-33 Saturday.

"It was definitely a defensive game," La Grande coach Aaron Mills said.

La Grande's defense shut down Ontario in the fourth quarter. Ontario did not score until 3:31 remaining in the fourth when Jake Blaylock hit a free throw. La Grande led 36-24 at that point and never looked back.

In the fourth quarter, La Grande went 10-for-11 from the free-throw line. For the game, La Grande shot 80 percent from the line (16-for-20).

Mills said La Grande did a pretty good job on Ontario's shooters.

La Grande took the lead for good off Shaun Cederholm's basket to give the team a 23-22 lead in the third quarter.

Rick Anderson's free throw gave La Grande a 28-23 lead heading into the fourth quarter.

La Grande's Kelly Moore was 100 percent on his free throws (8-for-8) and finished with 13 points to lead the team. Pettit finished with 11 points. Tyler Tucker had eight points and was 100 percent on free throws (4-for-4).

Wade Douglas paced Ontario (5-1, 13-5) with 15 points.

La Grande (9-6 overall) will host Fruitland, Idaho, in a non-league game at 5 p.m. Thursday. The Jan. 6 game was snowed out.

La Grande returns to Greater Oregon League action Feb. 7 with a home game against Baker.
