SUN VALLEY, Idaho — La Grande High School freshman Ford Hebard didn't let a crash in the super-G faze him as he finished 10th this past weekend in the slalom competition of the Junior Olympics.

The top 200 13- to 15-year-old alpine skiers from Oregon, Alaska, California, Nevada, Washington, Montana, Wyoming, Utah and Idaho competed.

Hebard skied extremely challenging courses in super-G, giant slalom and slalom. Course conditions were icy.

After a spectacular crash in the super-G on Friday, Hebard bounced back in Saturday's giant slalom, putting together two good runs to finish a respectable 31st.

In Sunday's slalom, Hebard did that much better, with two exceptional runs, finishing 10th.

Hebard skis locally at Anthony Lakes Mountain Resort and at Spout Springs Ski Area.

He had been a mitey-mite racer for the Anthony Lakes Ski Team prior to moving up as a junior and racing as an independent in in the Intermountain Division J3 class.
