Baker City took early control of the District 3 Girls Little League Juniors Softball Tournament here over the weekend.

Bakers all-stars beat Pilot Rock 11-2 Saturday and followed it with a 20-6 win over La Grande Sunday.

On Sunday, Baker grabbed a 6-0 lead after the top of the first inning, but La Grande responded by scoring five runs to pull within 6-5.

Baker changed pitchers in the second inning, bringing in Libby Wilson, who shut down La Grande and allowed only one run the rest of the way.

Baker jumped to a 6-0 lead against Pilot Rock and cruised to an easy win, racking up 20 hits.

In the late game, Union County led 2-1 over Pendleton in the top of the second before the game was suspended due to darkness. The game resumed this morning.

The games are being played at Pioneer Parks Sam Marcum and Restroom fields.
