Union County survived a late Pendleton charge to advance in the championship bracket Monday at the District 3 Girls Little League Juniors Softball Tournament.

Union, which only tallied two hits in its 14-12 victory, held what looked like a comfortable 14-4 lead heading into the bottom of the fifth inning.

But Pendleton chipped away, scoring runs in the fifth and sixth innings before erupting for six runs in the bottom of the seventh.

Even though its bats werent hot, Union had plenty of help getting on base. Pendletons pitching issued 10 walks and hit two batters during the contest.

Union will face Baker at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday in the championship semifinal at Pioneer Park.

Pendleton was eliminated from the tournament by Pilot Rock Monday, losing 9-8 after scoring four runs in the top of the seventh inning.
