JOSEPH The Intermountain and Snake River Valley Americans easily advanced in the championship bracket Wednesday at the North Region District 3 Babe Ruth 13-year-old Tournament.

Intermountain zipped past the Harney-Grant all-star team 10-4, while the Snake River Valley Americans beat Wallowa Valley, 11-1.

The days opener saw Harney-Grant jump out to a 2-0 lead through the middle of the first inning, but Intermountain responded by tying the contest 2-all at the end of the first.

Intermountain added four runs to take the lead for good in the bottom of the second inning and scored two runs in the fourth and fifth innings.

Errors hurt Harney-Grant even though it outhit Intermountain 11-8. Harney-Grant committed six errors leading to three runs.

Wallowa Valley stuck with the SRV Americans for one inning before SRV pulled away.

The Americans broke a 1-1 tie after the first inning and didnt allow another Wallowa run the rest of the way, allowing only three hits in the game.

Intermountain played the SRV Nationals this morning at 9. That game was followed by the SRV Americans playing Union County at 11:30. Consolation-bracket contests are at 2 and 4:30 p.m. today.
