Rachel Treloar struck out 15 Wallowa Valley batters, but it still took a seventh-inning rally for Pendleton to claim the District 3 Girls Little League Minors Softball Tournament championship Thursday.

Pendleton broke a 5-all tie in the top of the seventh inning when it scored three runs for an 8-5 victory over Wallowa Valley here at Pioneer Park.

It was the fewest runs Pendleton had scored in the tournament after tallying 43, 22 and 20 runs in its first three wins.

But it took three Wallowa errors, coupled with a Tia Smith single and Presley Pahl double, to help Pendleton surge ahead.

Steffane Oles came in to close for Pendleton in the bottom of the seventh inning, striking out three of Wallowas final four batters.

Pendleton outhit Wallowa 14-2, but issued eight walks, committed three errors and hit to batters in helping Wallowa stay in the game.

Wallowa fell behind 4-0 before scoring three runs in the second inning off five walks, a Jamie Micka single and an error. The damage could have been worse as Wallowa stranded three runners on base.

In the third inning, Wallowa scored twice and went ahead 5-4. Pendleton knotted the game at 5-all with one run in the fourth inning.

Wallowa was held scoreless in the final four innings, despite loading the bases in the fifth inning on three straight walks with two outs. Micka hit a single, but Summer Despain was throw out at home to end the threat.

Oles, Smith, Pahl, Treloar, Chantell Lloyd and Sara Armstrong had two hits apiece for Pendleton.

Micka tallied Wallowa Valleys only two hits of the contest.
