NORTH POWDER – No wonder it was so hot in the Powder Valley High School gym Saturday evening. Alan O'Donald was on fire.

The Imbler senior guard scored 31 points in the first half and led the second-ranked Panthers to a 94-34 Old Oregon League victory over the Badgers.

O'Donald, who was 16-for-18 from the field, finished with 38 points in two and a half quarters of play.

Imbler, which led 63-15 at halftime, found the open man on the fast break all night.

"We really came to play," Imbler head coach Ken Kramer said of his team, which went to 4-0 in the OOL and 13-0 overall. "Our guards are quick. They work really hard."

"They jumped on us hard and fast," Powder Valley head coach Blake Jones said. "It's their M.O. ... We kept playing hard."

Justus Gray paced Powder Valley (2-2 OOL, 5-6 overall) with 10 points.

Imbler plays Friday at Joseph. Powder Valley hosts Wallowa Friday.

Wallowa splits over weekend

The Wallowa boys split a pair of weekend league games, losing to Jordan Valley, 52-38, Friday and defeating Cove, 58-41, Saturday.

Against Jordan Valley, Wallowa shot just 15 percent from the field, but managed to get within two points at 38-36 with four minutes to play.

"After we got within two, we missed a couple of easy shots and had to start fouling," Wallowa head coach Gerry McLain said.

Patrick Green led Wallowa with 10 points.

Hosting Cove Saturday, Kaleb Oveson's 17 points paced the Cougars to victory.

Thomas VanNice was Cove's top scorer with 15 points.

Wallowa (3-1, 5-6) travels to Powder Valley Friday.

Cove (0-4, 1-6) plays at Pine Eagle Friday.
