GROUPS USE GOLF TO RAISE MONEY

At least three fund-raising golf tournaments are scheduled in the next two months at the two local courses.

Powder Valley football

The inaugural Powder Valley High School Football Golf Benefit will tee off at 1 p.m. Aug. 10 at the Buffalo Peak Golf Course in Union.

The four-person scramble costs $50 per player.

La Grande HS football

The La Grande High School Booster Club will host the third annual golf tournament benefiting the football team on Aug. 25 at the La Grande Country Club.

The tournament includes a steak dinner that night with a no-host bar and awards for foursomes. Tee prizes will be offered and other contests will take place.

The cost is $70 per golfer, or $240 for a foursome. Dinner alone costs $15. Other sponsorship levels include $100 for a tee/green ad sign, $500 as a tournament sponsor and $2,000 as a corporate sponsor.

Registration is at 1 p.m. and a shotgun start will get things going at 2 p.m.

United Way benefit

A benefit golf scramble for United Way of Union County, presented by The Observer, will take place Sept. 21 at Buffalo Peak Golf Course.

The $80 entry fee includes green fees, golf cart, range balls, dinner, refreshments and prizes. All money raised goes to organizations in Union County supported by United Way.

Pre-registration is at noon and a shotgun start will be at 1 p.m. Dinner and prizes will follow.
