Relay for Life, an overnight celebration of life dedicated to current and former cancer patients and their families, unfolded Friday and Saturday at Eastern Oregon University’s Community Stadium. The 15-hour event raised money for the American Cancer Society.

Teams of people camped out at the event site and took turns walking around a track or path.

Relay for Life participants walk around the track to increase cancer awareness and to support current and former cancer patients and their families.
The Luminaria Ceremony, staged at dusk, was among the event’s highlights. To honor people who have had cancer, candles were set in luminary bags and placed around the track where they burned throughout the event.
