That’s when The Observer and Eastern Oregon University will team up to sponsor a performance by the internationally acclaimed U.S. Army Field Band and Soldiers’ Chorus at Quinn Coliseum. The concert will be free, but tickets will be required. Tickets will be distributed starting in late March.

The band has thrilled audiences around the world and has played in presidential inauguration parades, at the Salt Lake Winter Olympics and in joint appearances with of some of the country’s greatest orchestras.

This will be the first performance of the full Army Field Band in La Grande and is one of only three planned stops in Oregon this year.

The 65-member concert band and the chorus, which are based in Washington, D.C., will present a program of marches, overtures, popular music, patriotic selections and instrumental and vocal solos.

So get ready to celebrate America — in April — with the U.S. Army’s musical ambassadors. Watch for announcements later this month of the concert and when and where to get tickets.
