To the Editor:

Ted Kramer is leaving and now (columnist) Dorothy (Fleshman) too! What is going on?

Everyone I know enjoys and looks forward to Dory’s Diary each Friday.

We will continue subscribing as we have for 40-plus years, but The Observer will not be the same.

Taking a stand

To the Editor:

Some folks, including Gus, have been snooping in my diary, and some have even called and written to tell you about it. Is that a nice thing to do about someone’s private life?

Since they wrote to you, maybe you could tell them that I didn’t want to quit writing, but not publishing seemed like the right thing to do to make a point.

I probably cut off my nose of opportunity, but sometimes you have to take a stand when you see a perceived wrong. That’s what happened to me.

Tell them that I am still writing and maybe some day they will show up again somewhere. But, for the moment, I’ve hidden my diary in a different place.

Don’t tell them, but I miss them, too. Unfortunately, in the meantime, they may forget about me.
