Wallowa


Robert C. Chrisman, 73, of Wallowa, died Dec. 4. A service will begin at 2 p.m. Saturday at Bramlet Cemetery in Wallowa.

 


 

Grace Elliott

La Grande

Grace Elliott, 94, of La Grande, died Dec. 3 at Grande Ronde Hospital. A celebration of life will begin at 10 a.m. Friday at Loveland Funeral Chapel. A viewing will run from 8:30 to 9:30 Friday at Loveland Funeral Chapel.

Memorial contributions may be made to Grande Ronde Hospice or the American Cancer Society.

 


Norman D. Masterson

La Grande

1925-2011


Norman Dean Masterson, 86, of La Grande, died Dec. 6 at St. Alphonsus Hospital in Boise, Idaho. A celebration of life will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday at Daniels-Knopp Funeral, Cremation & Life Celebration Center, 1502 Seventh St. in La Grande. Graveside services will be at Eagle Valley Cemetery in Richland at 2 p.m. Saturday.

Norman was born March 9, 1925, the son of Herbert and Edna (Sullivan) Masterson in Richland. He graduated from Eagle Valley High School in Richland and was drafted into the United States Army. After his honorable discharge, he returned to Oregon and on June 5, 1949, he married Marjorie Hunt. He attended Eastern Oregon University and later Oregon State University where he majored in fish and game.

He and Marjorie worked on Government Island, Sauvie Island and South Twin Lake before he returned to college to get his education degree. They moved to La Grande in 1956 where he began his career at La Grande High School, retiring in 1983. He belonged to the Isaac Walton League and the Save the Minam Organization as well as the Union County Retired Educators.

He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoying hunting, fishing, fly-tying, gardening, backpacking and boating. He also enjoyed his orchard.

Survivors include his wife, Marjorie Masterson of La Grande; sons, Glen Masterson of Gilbert, Ariz., and Mark Masterson of La Grande; two grandchildren; and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his brother, Iver Masterson.

Memorial contributions may be made to the EOU Foundation in care of Daniels-Knopp. Funds will go toward an educational scholarship.
