Union 1922-2011
Mayme was born May 11, 1922, the daughter of Emil and Geraldine (Sanders) Miller in Baker. She graduated from Powder Valley High with the Class of 1940. She attended Marylhurst College from 1940-1941. On July 3, 1942, she married Ted Arnoldus in Weiser, Idaho. She worked as the postal clerk in North Powder for over 30 years. When her children were young, she was a member and president of the North Powder PTO and served as a room mother. She was involved with the school district for 35 years. She enjoyed music and gardening. Ted and Mayme moved to Union in 1984. He preceded her in death on March 2, 2006. Survivors include her children, Karen Gitzen of Ontario, Gloris and Conley Didier of Fallon, Nev., and Eric and Kathy Arnoldus of La Grande; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and other relatives. She was also preceded in death by sisters, Joyce Nice and Joan Black. Memorial contributions may be made to Daniels-Knopp Funeral, Cremation & Life Celebration Center, 1502 Seventh St. in La Grande.
