Monica R. Kinnel

Union County


Monica Ruhl Kinnel, 103, of Union County, died Jan. 31 at home. Monica hosted a gala on her 100th birthday in order to enjoy the celebration of her life with family and friends, her family said.



Emma D. Daniel



Emma Dale Daniel, 91, of Elgin, died Jan. 31 at a local care center. A full obituary will be available later. Loveland Funeral Chapel & Crematory is in charge of the arrangements.




H. Eugene Cissna




H. Eugene Cissna, 55, of Elgin, died Jan. 30 at his residence with his family by his side. A celebration of life will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday at Rockwall Grange in Elgin. Attendees are invited to wear casual dress. A potluck dinner will follow. For information on the potluck, call LaVeta Botz at 541-437-8982. Loveland Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.

Eugene was born Oct. 17, 1956, in Portland to Harley E. and Betty Dee (Morsman) Cissna. His family lived in Boring where he attended Sandy Grade School and graduated from Sandy High School. 

In 1976, Eugene married Deborah L. Allgeier. He married Rhonda G. Searles in 1995. Eugene was employed by the Sandy Union School District as a maintenance supervisor for 20 years. He also worked as a long-haul truck driver and drove a log truck and chip truck.

Eugene enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, target practice, horseback riding and watching NASCAR. He was a big John Wayne fan. Eugene was a bareback and bronc rider in high school rodeo. 

He served as a volunteer firefighter, EMT and a reserve police officer for the Sandy and Hoodland area for over 12 years. 

He received the Oregon National Guard Certificate for devotion and outstanding support to the military department, and the dedication and service award as a driver and engineer for the Hoodland Fire Department.

Survivors include his wife, Rhonda; three children and their spouses, Jason and Amber Cissna of Gresham, Christopher and Connie Cissna of Estacada and Tricia and Justin Priest of Rodanthe, N.C.; his parents, Harley and Betty Cissna of Boring; his siblings and their spouses, Jeff and Debbie Cissna of Boring, Elizabeth and Mike Neimeyer of Sandy, Jennifer and Mike Mach of Clackamas and Mark and Lorri Cissna of Tulsa, Okla.; his aunts and uncles, Bob and May Morsman, Pat Jenkins, Phil and Brigeta Morsman and Ron and Pearl Morsman; six grandchildren; and eight nieces and nephews.

Eugene was preceded in death by his grandparents, Dean and Beth Morsman and Harry and Nita Cissna.
