The Joseph and Enterprise fire departments are holding their annual “Fill the Fire Truck” food drive Nov. 10.

Donated food will be collected at Mt. Joseph Family Foods in Joseph and The Dollar Stretcher in Enterprise from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Members of the Joseph and Enterprise fire departments will accept dropped-off donations and shoppers are encouraged to purchase and donate food at the participating locations.

All food donated to the drive will be given to the Community Connection Food Bank in Enterprise.

In other fire department news, Joseph Fire Chief Tom Clevenger said his department put its new fire engine into service Thursday, Oct. 19, at 5:30 p.m.

Clevenger said, “We were dispatched to assist the removal of a cat stuck in a tree on the corner of Russell and Mill streets.

“Joseph Fire spent one year obtaining the grant and speccing the equipment along with a quarter million dollars, and our first call is a cat stuck in a tree.

“That is priceless,” he said.

All kidding aside, the winter snows have begun and the department anticipates putting the Pierce engine to serious work.

“We are looking forward to seeing what difference we can make with the improved equipment as well as
(having) four-wheel drive,” said Clevenger.
