Badger, Imbler trios dominate

A pair of threes filled out most of the 2012 all-Old Oregon League honors, released Saturday. 

The Powder Valley Badgers drew the top hand, with Jessica Pedro being named player of the year and her teammates Ali Abrego and Alexandra Colton joining her on the list. 

Powder Valley coach Lasa Baxter also won coach of the year honors after guiding her team to a 10-0 league mark.

Imbler put three players on the first team, led by Malia Mills, Jacey Teeter and Danika McIntosh. The Lady Panthers were the only league team to hand the Badgers set losses on their way to an 8-2 record.

Sophomore Hannah Hulse of Cove was the only other player named to the first team.

Cove had three players on the second team — Mikayla Murchison, Hailey Hulse and Renee Mills — joining Powder Valley’s McKinsey Hampton and Jenna Aldrich and Wallowa’s Sally Mary Blair.

Breanna Gibson of Joseph led the honorable mention list, which included Wallowa’s Kristyn Young and Taylor Harshfield; Powder Valley’s Bailee Allen; Imbler’s Rikki Griffin and Pine Eagle’s Brianna Thatcher.

Cove won the school sportsmanship award.
