REDMOND — The Imbler Panthers swept favored Hosanna Christian Friday in the quarterfinals of the 1A volleyball tournament at Ridgeview High School.

Imbler (22-4) handed the fifth-ranked Lions a 26-24, 25-23, 25-11 loss that bounced the team from Klamath Falls into the consolation bracket against Perrydale. The Lady Panthers were ranked eighth in the final OSAA 1A poll of the season.

The victory moved the Lady Panthers into a semifinal battle with Portland Lutheran (18-5) at 6:30 p.m. Friday night after the Blue Jays handed Perrydale a 3-1 loss in their quarterfinal battle.

Powder Valley swept Yoncalla Friday to put two Old Oregon League teams in the final four of the 1A volleyball tournament. The Badgers will play St. Paul in the other 6:30 p.m. semifinal game. St. Paul defeated Lowell, 3-1, in its opening match at the 1A tournament.

The two semifinal winners will play for the title at 6 p.m. Saturday, while the two losing teams face off in the the 3rd/5th-place game at noon Saturday.
