CALDWELL, Idaho — A furious first set rally fueled The College of Idaho to their fifth Cascade Collegiate Conference Championships title in seven years, as the Lady Yotes defeated Eastern Oregon, 27-25, 29-27, 25-20, inside the J.A. Albertson Activities Center.

The victory for the No. 15 ranked Lady Yotes (21-6) clinches the CCC’s automatic berth to the NAIA National Championships — their fifth-straight trip to the tournament and their seventh trip in eight years. The complete 36-team field will be Sunday, with opening round assignments announced Monday.

The Mountaineers (23-7), playing in their first tourney title in program history, sprinted out of the gates in Set 1, taking advantage of three C of I errors and a Katie Keeney kill in a five-point run to lead 13-7. EOU had set point after a Casey Loper kill at 24-19, but the Yotes got a kill from Torrey Hulsey, back-to-back combo-blocks from Sierra Porter and Liz Myers, an Eastern setting error, and a Jessica Peacock kill to even the score. Peacock’s fifth kill of the set gave the Yotes their first lead at 26-25, with a Kylee Nawahine spike down the line giving the hosts the win.
