As he requested, there will be no services. Arrangements are under the direction of Bowman Funeral Parlor of Garden City, Idaho.

George was born Jan. 17, 1929, to W. Hal and Lilian Bohnenkamp in La Grande. He attended school in La Grande. On May 14, 1950, he married his high school sweetheart, Betty Rogers, in La Grande. They were together for 67 years.

George owned a plumbing and heating business and worked at Grande Ronde Hospital as the stationery engineer for 12 years. He and Betty owned the Wee Ski Shop.

George was a devoted family man and loved all sports, especially football, snow skiing and water skiing. He enjoyed boating and built two inboards.

He also enjoyed walking and watching sports on TV. For 12 years George and Betty traveled south in the winter, accompanied by his dog and constant companion, Chester.

In 1991, George retired to the family’s cabin at Wallowa Lake, where he and Betty lived until 2004, when they moved to Joseph. Later they settled in Kuna for medical reasons and to be near family.

He was preceded in death by a brother, a sister and a great-grandchild.

Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Betty; children, Scott and Greg; siblings, Mary and Jim; and four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Condolences may be sent to Betty at 1982 W. Sego Prairie St., Kuna, Idaho 83634.
