ATHENA — The Elgin/Imbler softball team is off to a slow start this season.

The Ravens got swept by Weston-McEwen (8-2, 8-1) Friday before losing (14-4) and tying (4-4) with Echo/Stanfield Saturday.

Saturday’s contests were prearranged to go only seven innings.

In Friday’s opener, the Ravens took a 1-0 lead in the top of the fourth, only to see Weston-McEwen strike for five runs in the bottom of the inning.

Molly VonBorstel got the win, while Rikki Griffin was saddled with the loss.

The TigerScots carried over the momentum to Game 2, where they scored four runs in the first inning and never looked back.

Miah Slater finished 2 for 3 with a double, while Danika McIntosh had one RBI.

“TigerScots are a well coached team and will most likely be in the top of their league,” Elgin/Imbler coach Dick Griffin said.

In Saturday’s opener, the Ravens scored first but couldn’t hold the lead as the Cougars picked up the lopsided win.

McIntosh was 2-for-4 with a double, while Darci Kanoho had a pair of runs batted in and Brea Harris drove in one RBI.

Harris added two more RBIs in Game 2 that ended in a tie.
