Tigers drop two to Ontario

ONTARIO — The 
La Grande baseball team lost a doubleheader to Ontario Saturday.

The Tigers fell 3-2 in the opener and 11-9 in Game 2.

In Game 1, Ontario was able to get to starting pitcher Kaleb White for a run in the second and two more in the third.

La Grande rallied with a two-run fifth inning, but Ontario pitcher Tanner Alexander was able to hold the visiting Tigers off.

Alexander got the win, going seven innings, allowing three hits and striking out 11.

White struck out seven in six innings of work.

La Grande’s Jake Chamberlain had a double and two RBIs in the loss, while Tyson Wicklander and Trenton Powers each added a hit.

In the second game, Ontario led 6-1 entering the fourth inning. That’s when La Grande scored seven runs to take an 8-6 lead.

But Ontario scored four runs in the bottom of the fourth and added one more in the sixth to get the win.

La Grande outhit Ontario 13-10 but committed six errors.

White, Wicklander and J.C. Rogers all had two RBIs. Rogers finished
4-for-5 at the plate.

Mike Hussey, Aaron Alexander and Levi Munn each had two hits for Ontario.

LHS drops to 6-7 overall and is 2-2 in the Greater Oregon League. OHS is 9-4 overall and 4-0 in the GOL.

La Grande travels to play DeSales (Wash.) Tuesday before hosting rival Baker (5-7, 1-3) on Friday. at 2 p.m.
