The La Grande boys golf team battled wet conditions Friday at its home invite at La Grande Country Club.

The Tigers played through a constant downpour and finished in fourth place at the five-team
tournament.

“The kids did good considering the conditions,” LHS head coach Ron Evans said. “It was miserable out there.”

LHS shot a team score of 378, while Pendleton won with a 336. Hermiston took second (340), Baker third (357) and McLoughlin fifth (390).

Jake Girard was the top Tiger individually, carding an 82 to finish in a tie for third place.

“Jake is playing really well right now,” Evans said.

Pendleton’s Walker Hoolehan won after firing a 76. Teammate Ti Farrow finished with a 77, while  J.D. Thacker of Hermiston tied with Girard with an 82. Keegan Craston of Hermiston was fifth with an 85.

Adding to La Grande’s score were Craig Wallace (94), James Laurence (99), Andrew Branen (103) and Daniel Hibbert (104).

Hibbert replaced Daniel Seymour, who was missing due to another engagement.

“We’re just kind of plugging away right now waiting for districts,” Evans said.

The Tigers played at the Pendleton Country Club on Thursday and took eighth place with a 389.

Girard led the way with a 90, while Seymour carded a 91.

Wallace shot a 93, Laurence a 115 and Branen a 117 to round out the scoring.
