Health care system needs overhaul

To the Editor:

It’s important to take a close look at various concerns regarding universal health care. Many people are opposed to health  care for all because they believe that physicians will be paid less and not in favor of such a system.

What does your own doctor think?

It doesn’t make sense that our health care providers want to maintain and pay for billing departments to process claims for highly profitable insurance companies. Wouldn’t doctors prefer a single payer such as “Medicare for all,” so that they could spend 95 percent to 97 percent of their time providing real health care? It’s true, the overhead costs of our current Medicare system is only 3 percent to 5 percent.

My doctor would rather spend time and energy on delivering care than on complicated payment negotiation and payment collection.
