Wolfe Fleece & Clothing changes its name

JOSEPH — Wolfe Fleece & Clothing Company of Joseph is changing its name to Tempting Teal.

Owner Deve Wolfe opened her original business, Wolfe Fleece,  when she started making and selling socks in a tiny rented space in Joseph. In its 15-year history the small boutique that has occupied a number of Main Street locations has evolved into a full-scale clothing and accessories store.

“Our initial focus was handcrafted fleece, and the entire business model was based on that,” said Wolfe. “But as the market for fleece became more and more saturated we included clothing and accessories, and then shoes.”

Wolfe said the name change came about due to the confusion of visitors who still think the store is focused on fleece products, or sells rolls of fleece fabric.

“We’ll still have the same products, the same brands, just a new name,” said Wolfe, who also wants customers to know that their two favorite fleece products — their signature socks and the popular line of baby products — will still be available.  “Those are still great sellers for us, and we will keep stocking those for our customers.”

Wolfe built her business by stocking brands that customers recognize and love from Fox Croft no-wrinkle blouses, to Jag and Silver Jeans, to Rocket Dog, Sanuk and Riecker shoes.

“Living in Wallowa County, we may not have the need to dress up all the time, but women still want to look good,” said Wolfe.  “We try to help them do that.”

Tempting Teal is located at the same location as the former Wolfe Fleece & Clothing Company, at 12 S. Main Street, across from Joseph Hardware. It is open seven days a week from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
