Now is the time to reform health care system

To the Editor:

One third of each health care dollar is wasted in the overhead of a sick care system driven more by profit than by public good.

One third of all individual insurance applications and billing claims are denied.

One third of us are uninsured or underinsured.

Many people think ObamaCare solved this problem, but it did not. We must take charge ourselves and create a health care system for all Oregonians, a system that provides universal coverage and puts people above profit.

If we just take the money that is diverted from health care to provide profits to the insurance companies, we could provide care for all without any additional costs. All it takes is you and me and the resolve to stand up and say: Now is the time for a single-payer system for all Oregonians.

Go to http://oregonrural.org/our-work/health-care-reform to learn more about what you can do to finally provide equitable, affordable and efficient health care for all.
