Plywood plant to close for a week

Boise Cascade announced today that Elgin plywood mill operations will be curtailed one week due to poor market condition and log supply constraints.

The curtailment will begin Monday. Some employees will return July 6, and full operations will resume July 8.

Boise Cascade representative Steve Lyon said a large percentage of logs processed at the Elgin mill come from 200-250 miles away.

"In addition to the weak market conditions that all plywood manufacturers are facing, our mills are being negatively impacted by the high cots associated with getting logs to our mill," he said.
