Stephen Andrew Isley

Joseph

1953-2013

A memorial service for Stephen Andrew Isley, who died July 28 at Wallowa Valley Senior Living Center just short of what would have been his 60th birthday, was held Saturday at the Joseph Baptist Church with fellowship following. Bollman Funeral Home handled the arrangements.

Steve was born Sept. 25, 1953, at Wallowa Memorial Hospital in Enterprise with occipital hydrocephalus, and the local doctor did not have much hope for his survival.

But survive he did. Steve attended Joseph Elementary School and had several years of perfect attendance. He attended Joseph High School and graduated, receiving a diploma through special education. Steve participated in the wrestling program and received a plaque.

Steve was married to Wanda Christine Hatch. They later divorced.

Steve was a member of the Joseph Baptist Church, which he attended faithfully until he moved into the care center.

Steve never knew a stranger and loved to visit, tell stories, laugh and most of all talk.

Steve was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents.

He is survived by his parents, Manford and Vera; his two daughters, Sarah (Jacob) Grubenhaugh and Amy Parker and companion Stuart Swearingen; his two sisters, Nancy (Dean) Parker and Sandra Bauermeister; his brother, Brian Isley; six uncles and one aunt; and two grandchildren.
