An Elgin woman was killed in a traffic crash west of Tollgate around noon Monday.

According to Oregon State Police's Sgt. Sterling Hall, at about 12:25 p.m., a loaded log truck driven by Chance E. Doubravsky, 33, Goldendale, Wash., was headed eastbound on Highway 204 near milepost 19 negotiating a right curve when the truck and trailer began to roll on its side.

The logs came off the trailer and onto the highway, striking two vehicles and killing one person.

Luby Carol Teem, 69, Elgin, who was operating a passenger vehicle, has been identified as the victim. Jan M. Patton, 56, Pendleton, was operating another passenger car and was transported by ambulance to St. Anthony Hospital in Pendleton for minor injuries, according to police.

Doubravsky had minor injuries and refused treatment at the scene. He remained at the scene to cooperate with the investigation.

OSP troopers from the Pendleton and Ontario offices continue to investigate. No enforcement action has been taken.

ODOT, East Umatilla Fire Protection District, the Forest Service and Umatillla County Sheriff's Office assisted at the scene.
